.
2009
was a notable year for the Arizona Chapter. While participating in the
CMAA National conference in October, the Chapter and members received the
following accolades and professional recognition |

Chapter of the Year
Population
Division II
100-200

This chapter
has done it all this year. The chapter saw 25 percent growth and 94 percent
retention. The number of owner members virtually doubled as the chapter
continually involves its owners in programs and events. The chapter created
its own website, which includes online payment options for members. The
first student chapter was chartered and made
great strides in this first year. Student scholarships were
presented for the first time, with a total of $4,000 being distributed.
Nineteen different programs were offered throughout the year, either at
chapter meetings or as stand-alone events. To assist its members in the
current economy, the chapter decided to offer its educational programs at no
charge even though that meant a drop in the treasury. Based on the success
of this year’s effort, the chapter is considering the formation of an
affiliate chapter. In addition to all of this, the chapter served as the
host for this year’s CMAA Leadership Forum. |

Arizona Chapter President Recognition | |
|
|
|
| 2009 Chapter President Paul Nelson was personally recognized
with two awards. |
| Chairman's Award Distinguished
Service Award |
 |
|
Paul was among the founders of the Arizona chapter and has served that
chapter in every elected board position apart from treasurer. He is
currently in his third term as chapter president. His leadership has been
particularly vital this year, considering how hard hit the Arizona area has
been by the economic downturn. Paul especially came to the fore this year
as chair of our Leadership Forum in Scottsdale, where for four days he was
literally everywhere, doing everything to support a successful conference.
Paul is a veteran of more than 20 years in the industry, and among his own
personal priorities is to promote the growth of our student chapters and the
success of CM students. He has made it clear he will pursue this far-sighted
agenda in the future. |
